The grass danced merrily in the warm breeze that blew through camp, weaving through the deep blue-gray fur of the young medicine cat apprentice. Soft cobalt blue eyes peered out of the waving strands in front of the medicine den, peeking out at the hustle and bustle of the camp. Warriors going out on patrol, apprentices lazing in the sun, kits playfighting by the nursery...all this created a sense of nostalgia in Chinapaw.
At moments like this, moments of peace and tranquility, Chinapaw wondered what her life would be like if she were apprenticed to a warrior. Going out on patrols every day, hunting for the Clan's food, risking her life in battle and working her butt off in the heat...It made her shudder. She thought to remember to thank Raintail for choosing her to succeed her as medicine cat. It was much better than being a warrior, any time. Was it?
Chinapaw sighed. Sometimes she wasn't so sure.

RAINTAIL - WINDCLAN MEDICINE CAT A scowl was written across Raintail's face as she trudged into the camp, jaws clamped tightly down onto a bundle of herbs she held gingerly in her jaws. The black she-cat's paws were caked with rich brown mud; all thanks to recent melt of what was left of the snow, the moorland was nothing but a layer of mud and water.
Raintail paused just inside of the camp entrance, shaking away the flecks of mud that clung to her forepaws. How she hated her birth season; Raintail preferred green-leaf over anything else. The scorching temperatuers and lack of water in WindClan territory aside, the season was good. It brought both plentiful prey and herbs.
Catching sight of Chinapaw near their den, Raintail beckoned her over with a twitch of her tail, before dropping the herbs she carried to the ground.

Chinapaw's tail flicked back and forth lazily as the breeze picked up, carrying the scent of rain and a sense of calmed humidity. Unlike her mentor, as she's noticed while training under her, she liked newleaf. It meant the birth of new things, and the rain washed away all the sorrow and tragic happenings of leaf-bare. The bright new sun was the promise of new and greater things...at least that's what she thought.
Catching sight of Raintail, she held back a smirk as she saw the annoyed expression on her mentor's face. Shaking her paws and looking up sharply, Chinapaw shrunk back slightly in surprise as she was beckoned forward, but jumped up and bounded clumsily over. "W-What is it, Raintail?" She asked in her normal stutter.

RAINTAIL - WINDCLAN MEDICINE CAT Raintail shuffled out of the way of the entrance, keeping herself from blocking whoever wanted to come and go from camp. Then she seated herself down gently, pressing her tail against her side as she waited for her apprentice to join her. Raintail cast a final scowl down at her forepaws; there was really no point getting angry at them, considering her paws couldn't be angry back. But how was she supposed to get the mud off? The nearest stream was some distance away, and to get there and back her paws were just going to get dirty again!
Sighing, Raintail realized she was just getting worked up over something that she really didn't need to pay any attention to. With a second sigh, the medicine cat forced her sharp yellow eyes away from her muddied paws and fixated them onto her approaching apprentice who, much to her growing irritation, was stumbling forward as usual. Furthermore, she continued to stutter.
"I want you to take these herbs and sort through them." Raintail instructed, bending and nosing the pile of herbs toward her apprentice. A slight breeze picked up, drifting lazily-like through the camp. The air dipped beneath the leaves and lifted them, scattering the herbs she had kept so neatly across the camp. Raintail's scowl returned once more, this time deeper and much more annoyed. "Oh, for StarClan's sake!" The she-cat snapped, watching the herbs dance through the air around the camp.

Chinapaw dipped her head in reply to Raintail's orders, flushing slightly out of embarassment at her mentor's obvious irritatation at Chinapaw's stutter and clumsy footing. She would forever be deeply grateful to Raintail for saving her from the horror of being apprenticed to a warrior, but the older medicine cat still scared Chinapaw somewhat.
The young cat was just about to dip her head to snatch up the herbs when the leaves suddenly whipped at her face and she jumped back, startled. The wind blew harder and stronger than it had at all before that day, and managed to take all the neatly arranged and organized herbs with it. Chinapaw gulped nervously at the angered irritation in Raintail's voice and leaped backwards, spinning on her pads and racing off after them. "I-I'll get them!" She shouted over her shoulder.
Chinapaw cursed her clumsy ways as she threw herself into the air after a bundle of runaway marigold, only to be fiercely buffeted by the wind and tumble to the ground again. That was what happened when you were so small and frail, like Chinapaw was. She blinked her deep blue eyes in confusion for a moment, before shaking it away and scrambling to her paws again in pursuit of the runaway herbs.

RAINTAIL - WINDCLAN MEDICINE CAT Despite her irritation at the flyaway herbs, Raintail couldn't help but let free a burst of laughter at Chinapaw's reaction. Her apprentice had flinched away as the herbs had scattered. For a moment, it had looked as if Chinapaw thought they were going to lunge at her and attack her like an enemy warrior! The laughter was quick to die away, as the realization that all of her work was now ruined because of the wind returned to her mind. Not only were her muddied paws a problem, but so was the astray herbs as well.
For a long moment Raintail watched as Chinapaw scampered away after the fleeing herbs. Then, with a sigh, she called after the apprentice, "Don't tramp all over the ones that're on the ground!"
The medicine cat was turning, about to bat a a leaf with a semi-clean paw, but the sight of Chinapaw being tossed aside by the fierce wind distracted her. Unable to help herself for a second time, Raintail burst into a fit of laughter. It was rather pathetic that Chinapaw was so small and fragile; had she been a warrior apprentice, she'd surely have been killed by that point. "You need to eat more and get bigger!" Raintail burst out in between her laughs and attempts at dragging in breaths. She herself wasn't that large, but she wasn't small enough to be knocked over by a gust of wind! "Otherwise you're just going to float away on the wind!"

Swiftstar stretched in the privacy of his den, yawning widely and blinking sleepily. His den was an ancient rabbit warren, that must have hused such creatures for generations, because even now after moons of being used as the leader's den, the faint scent of rabbit still hung in the air, making Swiftstar's dreams blissfully filled with rabbits. Then again it might help that he tried to eat rabbit every time he could, considering it was his favorite.
Padding slowly out into the sunshine, he froze when he saw Raintail and Chinapaw. A mischevious smile grew on his face and he crouched down quickly before they had seen him, creeping over to the side and following the camp boundaries until he behind and a little to the left of the medicine cat. Confident he hadn't been seen or heard, after all he had been moving when the wind rustled the moor grass, thus disguising his movements naturally, he popped up behind Raintail.
" Good Morning Raintail! Have a nice stroll through the mud did you?"
